Our work
What the centre is for
The Greenwich Peninsula Islamic Centre exists to serve the spiritual, educational and social needs of the Muslim community on the peninsula and beyond, and to be a good neighbour to everyone who lives here. This page sets out that work area by area: what runs today, and what the charity's constitution commits it to build.
Our governing document names six charitable objects, for the public benefit: advancing the Islamic faith through prayer, education and events; promoting religious harmony; relieving poverty and distress on the peninsula; providing facilities for young people and others in need; advancing health and wellbeing; and caring for the environment as a trust from God. Everything below follows from one of them.

The centre is a charitable trust, run by a Board of Trustees, in the final stages of registering as a Charitable Incorporated Organisation with the Charity Commission for England and Wales. Our policies, how donations are handled and how to raise a concern are on the governance page.
