Our work
Education
Learning is one of the centre's founding purposes: facilities for Islamic education for adults and children, the teaching of the Qur'an and Islamic studies, and the Arabic language, recitation (tajweed) and memorisation (hifz).
Today
- The Friday khutbah, delivered in English and rooted in the Qur'an and Sunnah, is the centre's weekly lesson. Sermons given at the centre are published, with translation, in the Friday sermon archive.
- Halaqas (study circles) run as announced: the most recent, for sisters, on hijab and social media. Dates go out on the community Signal group and the events page.
- Questions of faith and practice can be put to the Imam after Jumu'ah or by e-mail.
What we are building
- Weekly halaqas and Qur'an and Seerah classes for adults of every level.
- Qur'an classes for children: recitation, tajweed and hifz, with the Arabic needed to read with understanding.
- Foundational classes for new Muslims, in step with the New to Islam programme.
- Lectures and seminars open to all, on the questions the community asks.
These depend on two things: a settled room, which the Masjid Fund exists to secure, and the Imam the trustees are recruiting (the role). As each class opens it will be announced here.
