Our work

Young people

A community space young people want to be in. Our constitution commits the centre to programmes and activities that develop young people's physical, mental and spiritual capacities, so they grow to full maturity as individual members of society.

Today

Young people are welcome at every prayer and event. Children attending Jumu'ah are supervised by their parents, and volunteers look out for anyone who seems lost. The Imam the trustees are recruiting will carry a specific responsibility for engaging and relevant programmes for young people.

What we are building

  • A youth halaqa: faith, questions and current issues, in plain language.
  • Mentoring, pairing younger members with older ones who have walked the road.
  • Sport and activity days on the peninsula, open to friends of every background.
  • A say in how the centre is run, through a youth voice to the trustees.

Get involved

If you are a young person with an idea, or an adult who can coach, mentor or supervise, write to [email protected]. Everyone working with children and young people is checked and briefed first; our safeguarding arrangements are described on the governance page.
