Appeals
Seasonal appeals
The centre's giving follows the Islamic year. Each appeal below opens in its season and stays here between seasons so you know what to expect. For a gift at any time, see the donate page; for the permanent home, the Masjid Fund.
Zakat
All year; most people pay in Ramadan
Zakat is not merely a charitable contribution; it is a pillar of our faith and a means of purifying your wealth. Zakat entrusted to the Greenwich Peninsula Islamic Centre is treated as a sacred trust: 100% is ring-fenced and distributed exclusively to the categories prescribed in the Qur'an. No Zakat is used for the day-to-day administration, rent or running costs of the centre.
Zakat al-Fitr
Ramadan, before the Eid prayer
Due from every member of the household, including children, before Eid al-Fitr. The rate is set each year from the local price of staple food: in 2026 it was £8 per person. The centre distributes it to those in need before the Eid prayer so that they can share the day.
The Ramadan appeal
Ramadan
Your donations maintain the prayer services on the peninsula through the month and beyond: the room, the sound system, water for the congregation, and the welcome. Complete your donation securely through Square, or scan the code.
Sponsor a night of Taraweeh
Ramadan
A £100 contribution covers venue hire, prayer leadership and water provision for the congregation for one night. Choose a night, or let us place it where it is needed.
Udhiya / Qurbani
Dhul Hijjah, before Eid al-Adha
The centre's Qurbani campaign is run each year with an established partner so that the sacrifice reaches families in need. The 2026 campaign has closed; the next opens as Dhul Hijjah approaches and will be announced here and on the Signal group.
Every appeal is run under the Donation Acceptance Policy. Restricted gifts are applied only to the appeal they were given for.
